This was a great start to the season for the Xchange with a resounding win over newcomers Bangkok Fusion. From the outset the quality of the Xchange passing dictated the game, and it was no surprise when they took the lead after just 4 minutes when a hopeful 25 yard shot from Watt was fumbled by the keeper. Just ten minutes later, following good work from Thatun, new boy Chris Lockard doubled the score and things were looking good. The Xchange were now well in control of midfield and a clever through ball from Dulyachinda played Watt to lift the ball over the keeper, the ball agonisingly close to being ckleared before crossing the line. Five minute from time, Anders hammered home a 25 yard drive leaving the keeper with no chance and the Fusion despondent going in 4-0 down at the break.
Second half started with a new defensive lineup from the Xchange, which caused major confusion at the back. The new defence simply didn't get it together resulting in Bangkok Fusion seeing more of the ball in the first ten minutes than they had in the previous half. To their credit, they seized the initiative and played some nice football, working the ball through on more than a couple of occasions. It was from a particularly well worked move that their goal arrived, following some inticate interplay which resulted in a tap in for their striker, David Korsah-Dick.
The Xchange made some changes, strengthening their defensive formation and this soon put things back on track, with Lockard scoring his second with a great individual effort curled around the keeper into the bottom corner. Unusually, Maw Thatun hadn't scored yet, but soon put that to rights when he hammered home a short cross from Eastmond into the roof of the net to make it 6-1. The Xchange weren't done yet though, and as the Fusion players tired, a good run from Lockard to the byline resulted in a great cross allowing Anders to score with a powerful header past the goalkeeper who could do nothing to stop him getting his second. Now with fve minutes remaining, and three players on hat-tricks the Xchange were in all out attack mode, but it was Upathum that would round off the scoring for the day unleashing an unstoppable shot high into the net after a cross from Watt somehow managed to make its way through a packed penalty area to reach him at the back of the area.
Good play at times from Bangkok Fusion, but the Xchange proved to be too hot to handle !
